Electro Acupuncture
In both dogs and horses we can improve the outcome of some cases through the addition of eltro acupuncture therapy. EA is a non painful technique for increasing the flow of energy through the acupuncture needles. To the patient there is a sensation of warm water running between the needles. The level of power is never increased to the point where muscle twitching occurs. By attaching the wires between acupuncture points which travel along a meridian we can stimulate the flow of energy over certain joints. In cases of paresis or paralysis we can stimulate inactive nerve fibers to increase muscle tone. This is not effective if the nerve has been severed. This requires an accurate knowledge of anatomy.
