MacDonald Mobile Veterinary Service

For the past 22 years I have worked in conventional mixed practice. I have met hundreds of animals who suffer from a broad variety of health conditions and diseases. While many of these animals responded very well to western therapy there is a population who I was frustrated not to be able to offer a complete return to good health. When I was introduced to acupuncture four years ago I quickly came to appreciate that this method of treatment would greatly increase the success rate in treatment of many of my cases.

The science of acupuncture is based on the theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). In TCM disease is actually an imbalance in the “Qi” or life force of the body. TCM seeks to determine the cause of the imbalance and use acupuncture and herbal medicine to restore the balance. These treatments are not used in a vacuum and in each case I look at what is the best integrated approach to an animals condition, using TCM in conjunction with western medicine to develop a comprehensive therapeutic plan for that animal.
